After years of dreaming of when I would be visiting the Big Apple, that day finally arrived! I made a plan to travel somewhere after I graduated college and that somewhere was New York. This was my most anticipated trip so far…so as a graduation gift to myself and a surprise Mother’s Day gift for my mom, I decided to just go for it! ♥
The four-and-a-half day vacation worked out perfectly since the original plan was to visit New Orleans; however, when I checked the forecast one week prior to our flight, the entire weekend showed thunderstorms. We changed our flights to New York City at the last minute and, luckily, the weather was close to perfect when we arrived!
We stayed in a hotel in the Downtown Financial District, where there is less of a crowd. The subway stations were only a few minutes away, so getting around the city was pretty easy.Since this was everyone’s first time in The Empire City, the itinerary I created seemed endless…but we tackled it!
Day 1 – Midtown
The sun decided to come out and bless us with 90 degree heat on our first day in New York. We prepared for gloomy, rainy weather that day, but luckily it was a beautiful day to explore Midtown.
- Breakfast: Lexington Brass
- Grand Central Park
- St. Patrick’s Cathedral
- Rockefeller Center: Top of the Rock
- Times Square
- Bryant Park
- Flatiron Building
- Union Square
- Dinner: Felice
Day 2 – Downtown/Brooklyn
Apparently the weather in New York changes quicker than I am able to fall asleep; therefore, on Day 2 we woke up with June gloom with a side of pouring rain. It went from 90°F to 60°F within 12 hours, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying our stay here!
- Breakfast: Felice
- Oculus
- 9/11 Memorial
- Charging Bull + Fearless Girl Statue
- Statue of Liberty
- DUMBO, Brooklyn
- Lunch: First Street Pizza
- Manhattan Bridge View
- Brooklyn Bridge
Day 3 – Soho/Manhattan
The majority of our itinerary was already completed by the last day, so we decided to visit some places that were recommended to me by some of my friends.
- Brunch: Cafe Habana
- Kith
- Greenwich Village
- Central Park
- The Metropolitan Museum
- Artichoke Basille’s Pizza
- PaTea Bubble Tea
Although we checked off everything in our itinerary, there is so much more to explore in the city that never sleeps. I can’t wait to go back!
